Tamiya 1/24 FC3S RX7 - Akagi's White Comet

Hi all,

This is the 1/24 Tamiya RX7 FC3S modified to look like the FC3S in Initial D driven by Takahashi Ryusuke. This car and the driver has the nickname of Akagi's White Comet, thus the thread title.

Modifications include:
- Front lip scratch built
- Modified rear spoiler
- scratch built harness guide bar
- seat belts
- side mirrors from Fujimi modified to fit
- Self printed Anime version decals
- front signal lights modified to fit clear lens
- racing seats and steering wheel from toolbox
- RS Watanabe wheels and brakes

Please check out the progress thread here if you are interested:

The following pics show Ryusuke's seal of approval of my build :

This pic shows my very first model comparing with my latest build (It was so bad I decided to not show too much of the tofu car)

The interior:

Thanks for looking!

Winston

Jada Toys released their line of Initial D diecast about 2 years ago. They have a diecast kit set where you have to build the car yourself. Two figures were included with each set. I bought the entire set
( FC3S, FD3S AE86 and the Night Kids GTR) because I am an Initial D fan.

Looking swell!

That little dude doesn't look too impressed with your build! Show him right and put him in the microwave!

Re: Tamiya 1/24 FC3S RX7 - Akagi's White Comet

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I really tried my very best to make this build worthwhile cos it is such a rare kit...Even though it is not perfect, I think this is the best I have executed so far in the short time since I started building model kits.

Cham,

This kit does exist! It is an old Tamiya kit from the 80s that they have not re-issued for some reason. I think this kit is absolutely great due to the engine included (Speaking of engine, I forgot to include some engine pics in this thread I just realized...). Even though the interior is not that impressive...

I scored it off eBay last year for around $20 US. Here is a picture of the kit:

This is really a good looking car. I think you did a great job with it and looks very clean and the interior is especially well done too.

Re: Tamiya 1/24 FC3S RX7 - Akagi's White Comet

Looks great, very clean and well detailed with all the subtle little mods. Not familiar enough with the anime to be sure, but from what I've seen that's pretty spot on. I'd be proud to have a build that clean on my shelf! Great work!
