Chevy Camaro -68 Z28 done!

Hello... I know I've forgotten to add any pictures to the wip thread, and now it is finished. I took a couple of pictures out in the garden, but I don't have much luck with my camera.

Well, note that the finish isnt great and neither is the detail, but I had fun building it and I like the style. Hope you do too. I wasnt gonna go with the spoiler but the paint got a little screwed up where it would go, so I put it there anyway. I have put an air intake/engine cover over the engine, painted in the body colour as a decoration.

These photos turned out good:

These did not:

C&C please. /Dennis

Nice looking build. I love red camaros. Have you tried to polish the paint in order to give it some shine?

Looks great, these cars are always amazing in red. What polishing "kit" are you looking at? First off what type of paint did you spray it with or do you most often use/plan to use. I have yet to buy a kit and have great results with some really inexpensive methods!!!!!

Keep up the great work!

Well the finest grit sand paper I know where to find is 2000. To polish, do you not need like 12000? I use regular spray paint from the paint store. Plasti-kote or something like that.

what u can do it give it a few clear coats, let it dry for a few days, and take rubbing compound (i use the 3M one) and polish it up , i always have great results with it, great shine.

Re: Chevy Camaro -68 Z28 done!

it really just looks as if you put to much paint on to fast. the build looks good as far as the style, stance and colors are concerned. the execution looks as though it needs improvement.

for polishing out your paint, go to the local beauty store, and get a fingernail buffing stick. there are several kinds, get the kind that has several grits on one stick. go from the heaviest (only if you have horrible orange peel) to the lightest then (after the paint is fully cured) follow it up with some buffing compount (find it at your local automotive finish store) and wax,
I'm sure you have seen it a million times, but it is very useful in getting a much better outcome on your builds, look into the faq section and look at the painting threads.

did you use a primer? the paint may have crazed the plastic if you used plasticote automotive finishes, it's much to hot of a paint for plastic model aplications, unless you use a good primer. if you are using the plasticote craft paints, primer could be useful but not necessary. however following the directions on the side of the can usually turns out decent results.

start with several light coats, waiting half an hour or so between coats letting the paint dry a little. after you have some decent coverage, spray a couple heavier coats to get a smooth finish, let this dry for an hour or 3, then coat it with some clear using light coats, not necessarily mist coats, as you want this to be the shiney part, and need it to flow out a little. let this dry for about 3 weeks before applying any kind of wax, or polish, unless you run it through a dehydrator to cure the paint overnight.

I really hope this advice helps you out.

you know after taking a REALLY close look, I think that a good clear coat would be all you need to have a really great finish on this.
