Is this a Lamborghini engine?

Well, I like cars but lack the knowledge of all the specifics. Anyways...I was looking in the classifieds of my local paper and I found this...

Engine: Diablo 302 V8. 345 HP, short block. New/ still in crate. Paid $2000 asking $1000. Serious inquires only.

Me and my step-dad immediately thought it was a Lambo engine. But, seeing as it is so cheap we thought no way in hell. And we live in a town that is small, and we don't have many big shots in our city. Lafayette, IN. I am making sure that I am not missing a deal. So, is it a Lambo engine? If it is, which I doubt, I would have to buy abunch of other stuff to get it running right? If so, what? I could do a engine swap, couldn't I?

Re: Is this a Lamborghini engine?

It is not. I'd guess that it is a GM small block that someone has put together. Lamborghini has not made an 8 cylinder engine in almost 20 years. On top of that none were larger than 3.5 litres (215 cid).

Re: Is this a Lamborghini engine?

Diablo is probably a shop that builds engines. Its most likely a Ford since a 302 Chevy is a little tough to build with the availability of parts. The demand for 302 chevys is limited to restorations, so only original 302s are worth anything... at least its not something in demand that a company would start selling them as a crate engine.

Diablos also didn't come with V8s, they have 4.4L V12s. The last one I saw sold for $64,000
