Did BMW ever make a M7?
A friend of mine has located an early 7 series (1982?) and the car is badged as being a M7. Did they ever make such a car? TIA.

No. Unless there it is Super RARE. Some people use to buy a 7 and stick the E34 M5 engine inside and called it a M7. BMWs think about making a E65 M7. NICE.
We use to have the E32 Alpina B12, based on the 750iL (below) |

BMW never made an M7.
as mattsbeamer already said, it could just be the owner modifying it and re-badging it.

BMW have never made a M7, and I doubt they ever will. The other M cars are so good that BMW would not jepordise their reputation by badging such a heavy car M. For example, look at the X5 4.6. BMW did not call it an M car, because it's not worthy of the title. It's two wallowy and heavy, even though it may be the best handling SUV. Back to the M7, I recently saw a black 7-Series, with the subtle M bodykit and wheels badged as an M7.

Quote:
Motorsport (aka M-series) cars are the epitome of sport, which is the opposite end of the spectrum from luxury. They're tuned for precision driving rather than for comfort, although BMW is one of the best at achieving optimum compromise between the two extremes, giving up a minimum of comfort for a maximum of precision. For BMW to build an M7 would be akin to Rolls Royce starting a performance division to sport tune their mammoth luxury saloons. There have been rumors of an M7 being considered by BMW, but the interesting thing is, the photos I've seen on the Internet of the so-called M7 look remarkably like the car being brought to the states in late 2005 and called the M5. It's clearly a 5-series body, not a 7-series; shame, too, because the new 7-series is a lot prettier car than the new 5-series. At least those of us who still appreciate asthetics have the M6 coming in 2006. |

I have seen a M7 745i at my work. So eather it you can get them with a sport package which is unlikely or the owner just put a M next to the 7 and took off the 45i

There is a guy here in Philly that has an E38 with a Supercharged 4.4 and a 6 speed. Top speed is over 165mph and this car was in Roundel several years ago.
