Tahoe Question for (Luke and others)
Hi - I'm glad to see this section on Automotive Forums Luke - I have used your excellent website to research my last tire purchase.
I have a question for you re. my '99 Tahoe LT 4-Door/4x4. I would like to get bigger tires and wheels on my Tahoe, but I really don't know what my best options are. I currently have Bridgestone Dueler H/Ls, at 275/70/16 and I'm really happy with these tires. However, I'm thinking of saving these tires and the stock wheels for the winter and getting new wheels and tires for the rest of the year. I would like that look that many trucks have where the tires stick out (a bit) from the wheel-wells; I'd like wider tires (and maybe fender flares) to give the truck a more aggressive stance. I know that I'll need a bigger wheel size - probably 18"s (I'm not too keen on the 19"s and 20"s looks-wise). The serious constraint that I have is that the parking garage at work has a clearance of 6'4" and the truck is at around 6"2" right now. In other words, I'd like the look that I'm after without raising the truck. How does this all come together as far as wheel size, tire width/profile etc.? I know this is kind of a complicated question, but I'd appreciate any advice that you can give me. Now if only there was a way to avoid the insane Canadian import taxes and duties - I do have a friend in Michigan whom I could "visit".... |

The tire size that you currently use is 31.1" tall and the 285/60-18 is 31.3" tall so it will not cause you any problems with the vehicle height. The wheels specs that you need are
18x8.5 20mm offset We have a few choices that match those specs my personal favorite is the OZ Racing Nova ST ![]() Luke

Thanks
Hi Luke - thanks for the info. Those OZs are nice wheels, but for a Tahoe, I like the 5-6 spoke "cleaner" look. I'll be checking your website for more options. Thanks again.
attaching pic of a really sweet Tahoe (and if I can, a really sweet Yukon) |

I couldn't post two pics in one message, so here's the Yukon. I like these wheels a lot too.
