Initial D: Mako's Sileighty

Building this for a local group build. Theme is star cars - any cars that appeared in movies, tv, games, cartoons etc.

first here's the kit:

mako's sileighty has a distinctive bumper and fujimi gives you an extra piece that you put on top of the stock bumper. First its molded solid and it sticks out too much. solution is to drill out the bumper and cut off the existing bumper to mount this.

bumper needs a bit of fine tuning but first coat of primer is on

first coat of color, painted with gunze's Character Blue, very nice color. this won't be the actual ride height since its too low. tires have been replaced with stretch walls and center portion painted gold.

I've done about 5 of them so far.......another 5 to make and probaly another 10 to buy

hows is the ride height for this kit? I've notice some kits sit way too high.

Re: Initial D: Mako's Sileighty

thanks guys!

lingeringsoul, this has the generic fujimi nissan chassis so it does sit like a 4x4. I should be able to finish the lowering job tomorrow and will post more pics

Re: Initial D: Mako's Sileighty

roof has been painted blue as well and final color coat is on. going to let this dry for a few days so I can give it a final color sanding before the clear coat

today was a good painting day so I painted my other two WIP as well, a revell escalade and fujimi Lexus LS600hl both painted in black (drying in my display case)

Slieighty looks great! I was considering buying that kit.
Lexus looks great too. An Escalade? Why? I am however biased against SUV's, I hate them.

Re: Initial D: Mako's Sileighty

I had to repaint the car after my clear coat reacted with the blue paint, clearcoat peeled right off.

here's the car after the repaint, turned out better I think
