In Progress: '68 Pontiac Firebird 400

I recently started this kit, and now have stopped
because it'll take until this weekend for me to get
paint, so I took pics while waiting patiently for my
paint.

It's a 2 'N 1, and i'll be doing the drag version without the stickers

These are the rims from my other work in progress, a '73 Challenger, they look like customs though, dont they?

A close up on the wheels

The engine-will paint blue

The engine in proportion to the car

Suggestions, comments, etc. are welcome!

Yes yes, looks like a good start. Need to see more first

I have this kit ready to build at some point too. Probably go for the stock look though... I really prefer the 69s to the 67-68.

Re: In Progress: '68 Pontiac Firebird 400

I don't know if anybody's paying attention to
this build, but I got the paint, it's Testors
sapphire blue metal flake. Painting on
monday along with the challenger, but with
two cars being built at once, it will take awhile,
especially when im taking extra care for the challenger.
Should look sick when im done.

Re: In Progress: '68 Pontiac Firebird 400

Hey I'm gonna paint it tonight, but I don't know if
I have enough paint left. I'm not gonna use primer
on it. Well, maybe a little if i got some left, I dunno.
I'm using basically leftovers paint this car, but if
I have to, i'll get another can.

if you're going to use testors paint and no primer go VERY light on the coats. Testors will run if you go heavy.

Re: In Progress: '68 Pontiac Firebird 400

Yeah, I learned that the hard way! Look at my second try.(keep in mind that this is only my 2nd model)

Those streaks are from the gas I put
on it to remove the first even uglier coat.

Ya, okaaay.... Needs some work

As far as stripping, get a jug or a couple of bottles of Castrol Superclean and a tupperware container big enough to fit the body. Dunk the body in it over night, and all that stuff'll come right off. If it's enamel, you'll have to use brake fluid (not brake CLEANER) instead.

CSC will strip enamel just fine, CSC will even strip duplicolor (just takes about a week)
