Infinity G20 - blower switch not working
Hi,
Please help me with the following problem. I have a Infinity 1995 G20. The AC Heating and Cooling blower fan works only when I place in button 4. 1,2 and 3 switch buttons doesn't work. Not able to understand what the problem is?? and how much it costs for replacement.. Can I replace it myself if I buy the part or is it mandatory to get it checked with mechanic. Please help me out. Thanks, konda |

Re: Infinity G20 - blower switch not working
Its a common problem. There is a resistor pack that steps the voltage down for the lower fan speeds. That resistor pack commonly fails leaving you with only the high speed 12v setting which bypasses the resistors.
Replacement resistor packs are cheap (if you don't get them at the dealer) and you'll have to reference a shop manual, nissan tech, or the nissan forums to find where it is. Some cars its easy to replace, some it takes a partial dash disassembly.

Re: Infinity G20 - blower switch not working
the mazda b3000 my dad owns has the same problem, about how much is one of those resistor packs? also couldn't you just fix up the current one with some regular old resistors? just take out the old and solder in the new ones?

Re: Infinity G20 - blower switch not working
I can't tell you exactly how much the resistor packs are but they don't look like regular resistors. They are made of several different coils of wire to get the proper resistance. I do know that they get very hot. They are plugged into the ducting so the air can cool them. They are probably around $20 or less because they are a common failure. Sometimes finding them is the hard part.

Re: Infinity G20 - blower switch not working
I didn't check, but assume the same part from an infiniti dealer would be $60 or more.

Re: Infinity G20 - blower switch not working
Thanks for the suggestions. Heard that it costs $48 for the part, but the dealer says the replacement costs is $350. So, a little hesistant to get it replaced.
