1/8 mile time seems slow why?

Well i have some time slips for my 1/8 mile and the best i have done is 10.979 at 64.10 with a .621 reaction. I guess to me it seems slow what are others running. I have AEM cold air intake, DC sports 4-2-1 2 picece header, custom 2.25 exhuast with a greddy sp muffler, unorthodox racing pullys crank, alt, and power steering. I do have an automatic but still i think it should be ok. I don't have anything in the trunk. The only reason i can think of is my wheels i am running 17" modena pyrus wheels which i think are 25lbs each. I am looking to get some steelies with good tires. Does anyone have any advice or times with same mods.

BINGO
You just answered your question.

FYI, for every pound of rotating mass you need to take away or add 2whp (depends on if weight was added or reduced).

let's do some math;
15" OEM alloy rims approximately weight 18lbs, 195/60/15 tires weight about 17lbs, so total 35lbs.
17" Modena Pyrus weight 25lbs, tires for 17" rims weight about 23lbs, so total 42lbs
42-35=7lbs, 7x2=14
You lost approximately 14whp with your rims

Being a 4 cylinder and also being a honda engine, your going to like your 1/4 times better then your 1/8 anyways.

There's just not enough low end to put out great numbers in 1st and 2nd gear.

Remember, your gearing is COMPLETELY different in your automatic.
To say your auto should be up to par with the 5speeds is not very accurate.
So once again, 4 cylinder, with automatic and also heavy rims, its just not a race car.

Re: Re: 1/8 mile time seems slow why?

Ok i am getting some steelies then. Well i want to go with a wide tire for more traction and maybe a smaller rim like 15" does anyone know any car that i could get those wheels from with accord bolt patter and i think like a 210/50/15 tire.

What about weight loss like taking the back seat out and simple items like that any ideas? but still be a daily driver?

Well i understand that automaitcs are not as quick as 5-speeds cause of the gearing i got beat by one with simple mods.

Are there any mods i could do to it such as changing shift points? I know i could get a high stall tourque converter but if i do a transmition i would do everything at once.

Thanks for the imput it helps

Should go with the slipstream 5 spoke... also known as the spoon rims. They have it in 15 inch and in accord lug patterns as well. I've seen them on an accord before and they're friggin light as hell!
