Unhappy Is there anotherway??

I was wonderin.... Say I were to import a R33 GT-R 1996 skyline. Say I bought it for $20,000. Now, how much would it cost to get it into the US? After importing it, I would obtain the crash test results from Motorex, or through The Freedom of Information Act. Then I do the mods myself, and that would probably cost no more than $4,000 for parts. Now calculate......

20,000+4,000+(Importing Fee's...)=About $35,000 at the most.

Am I correct?? Also, would it be more effective if I bought the Cheapest R33 non-GT-R and drop a RB26DETT engine in it after doing the mods??

You would need to drop A LOT more than a RB26DETT into the R33 Skyline before it will be a GTR. To name a few, fuel pump, front differential, transmission/transfer assembly, LSD rear diff, BREMBO brake system, totally change the body kit, bigger intercooler, bigger intake manifold, etc. etc. In my humble opinion, NO, it wouldn't be cost effective just to drop an RB26DETT in to a non-gtr skyline.

Anyway, good luck in finding out how to import a skyline without going through motorex. I'm sure there is a way to do it.

Well I checked into some of this myself. First of all the Freedom of Informations Act applies to the government and not businesses so good luck there. Second MotoRex wants $100,000 for a copy of the report which means you might as well spend that on a 911 GT2 and have a superior car. The only way I know of to get the car in past MotoRex is to crash test a car yourself.

Screw the GT2 get the R34 GTR. If you were gonna spend 100k on the crash test reports then why not go ahead and spend that 100k on an R34 GTR from them, instead of spending all that money on paperwork.

Plus I don't think that you would be able to find a porsche GT2 for $100,000. Check this one out on ebay, the guy says the reserve is set at $225,000!

Well the problem would be getting the crash test info, the freedom of information act doesn't apply to trade secrets, which is what it is.
