b16a powered 4g STD civic running like ass
i have completed the install on my civic, and have successfully gone the 1000 mile break in since i rebuilt it myself. i have flushed the coolant to get all traces of oil out from rebuilding, and flushed the oil as well. only running 93 octane gas, my problem comes in here: it is slow as fuck!!!! by slow i mean 17 and 16 quarter mile time. i hear VTEC, so thats not it, it pulls hard from VTEC in 1st gear through second gear and most of third, then it pusses out from third gear on. heres a list of mods
b16a1 (PR3) S1 tranny (i know, dont even tell me i should get y1) stock clutch stock rebuilt bottom end head polished and match ported to my skunk2 intake manifold neuspeed headers random technology cat stainless catback (made by my friends at a muffler shop, mandrel bends, mmmm) MSD wires and NGK plugs AEM fuel rail, and pressure regulator, with the pressure gauge on the rail. all my vacuum lines are silicone. there are no vacuum leaks anywhere, checked with a can of carb cleaner. all cylinders firing, and in the right order. have a little seepage of oil from my VTEC solenoid, but the gasket set is on the way. car is running rich, tried tuning the fuel pressure lower, but it doesnt help. thinking of slapping some MSD on it to raise the spark. im getting no codes from the ECU, havent gotten any since i first cranked it up. (aside from unplugging the idle air control and evap when i set the idle.) car idles fine, but kills sometimes in 3rd gear during vtec, and also kills on occasion when letting off the throttle after a WOT run. slight puff of smoke when first starting it, as well as very strong gas smell from the tailpipe. the SUN machine i hooked it up to told me i was getting a 12:1 air fuel ratio, and also told me i had alarmingly high levels of hydrocarbons (duh!) and low levels of carbon dioxide. hopefully someone can add all this up and tell me what to do. because i cant seem to find it. also, if it helps, nothing from my STD hatch as far as the engine is concerned is still there, the map sensor and everything, even wiring harness, has been pulled from a CRX Si |
