Disable my alarm

Hey I have a really big problem... I bought my car (95 honda accord) from my brother about 3 years ago and it came with a messed up car alarm. The alarm was going off at random times so instead of getting it fixed he just cut the wires to the horn of the alarm. So the alarm now will just blink and you have to hit a button on the remote to be able to start the car. Well now something is wrong with either the remote (of which I have change the battery with 2 different new ones, and I dont have a backed as my bro has lost it ages ago) or the alarm itself because it wont work, so that can't turn it off and I therefore cant start my car. Does anyone know how I can disable this so I can at least start my car and take it to somewhere to get it removed? Any info would be great seeing as I have to work tomorrow.
Thanks in advance,
Jesse

Re: Disable my alarm

Find the brain box. The starter disable will be either an interior relay, which can be identified as heavier wires going into the box, or an external relay that is wired to the box with little light duty wires. I suggest tracing wires from the box until you find what each one likely does. If you follow wires out and get to a relay that then goes to the steering column, chances are that's your one. If you follow two heavy wires from the box and find that they go to splices at a different wire, that is most likely your starter interrupt. For instance if you have (just for example) a blue/green wire that comes from the steering column, then its cut and a purple wire goes to the box and back to the original blue/green wire, that's most likely your starter interrupt.

The relay can be confusing since often times relays are used to control power windows and locks, but with a test light you could figure out which relay is getting 12v when you turn the key.

I'm suggest you post this same thread in the Car Audio forum just a few links up in the tree here. Many of those folks have a lot of experience with alarm installs as well.
