Lancer Evo EXTREME
Been slowly working away at this model for the last week or so.
So far everything is painted and just needs to be put together. I think the rims are what really sets the model off. Have spent today getting the ride height looking right. It was to high at the front so it has been lowered about 1.5-2mm and about 1mm at the back. This was done by just cutting down the springs so they fit higher into the chassis and removing some of the "blocks" that everything sits on. The body has been primed with 2 coats of Tamiya primer and finished off with 3 coats of Tamiya Pure White. The spoiler/skirts have been painted in Tamiya Bright Red. Just the detailing on the body to do after a good rub down/polish and wax. He's a pic of it so far....checking ride height etc

Looking good so far, and looking forward to the end result.
Two questions, do you glue the suspention on to check the ride height?, and if so, how do you take them off again to lower them. Cheers. -Thug |

I measure the gap between the top of the wheel and the guard first.
Then i work out how much i want to lower it. If the gap is 3mm...thats how much i need to take out of a shock/spring etc. I have the body on the chassis and have the car up side down at first. Once i have cut the spring, i place it into the mounting place on the chassis. If i need to i use tape to hold most things in place. Then i lay i piece of flat wood(in pic) on top of the cars wheels and the carefully turn it over. Then i muck around with a long tooth pick adjusting all the wheels to get the right angles etc. Once i 'm happy with the set up, i then do the same again but with glue. Once you have put the glue on you have to move pretty quickly before it sets

Before I read that you sprayed the body TS-26, I thought the primer layer itself was that shiny

Been wanting to get that kit for a while now, it looks superb with those wheels.
Your work looks as per your usual standard, my question for you is when u lower your models do u do it before or after u have painted all the suspension parts?

I sometime have problems in getting a good white paint job.
I deduce it’s because I don’t start with one or two coats of primer Your paint job is awesome primera man, real smooth and shinny. Real love the wheels too, hope to see pictures of the finished model soon. I share with you a picture of one of my current projects, the AMG Mercedes C-Class. Keep the good work Current projects: |

F.O.T.W. I leave all the painting of suspension parts to last so that i can cut and chop things up !!!
NoBrakes....here's a pic of the red skirts/spoiler ends. Cant seem to get a good one to come out of the colour though. The other bits are for the front which means i have to paint the other half already molded on the front, which will take up a bit of time. Its the same for the back as well....it has to be masked of to be painted red on the body.

O.M.G P-man does it again. That interior looks awsome.
I have some of the paint on mask, if you want to try it I can send it down to you. |
