2001 Buick Regal LS electrical problem.
I have '98 Century, a '01 Regal and a '08 Lucerne. Love 'em all!
The '01 Regal has lost power to the cig lighter and assessory power jack. The E5 fuse in the I/P block is good. There is power going into the orange wire at the fuse block but it isn't coming out at the connector in the center console. It looks like I will have to pull the carpet to get at the wiring harness. How is the carpet installed? Is it possible to get it out and back in neatly. Thanks, This is a great forum! IHS, Ted Leber |

Do you have a good ground on the lighter/accessory socket?

How far did you dismantle the console to determine you need to remove carpeting? Last time I checked you can see the wiring harness and electrical connector that feeds the 12 volts and ground to both receptacles as long as the door is open and ashtray removed as a cursory inspection.

I used a needle probe on my DVM to penetrate the wire nsulation where it disappears under the carpet. No voltage there. I'm losing it between there and the fuse block. I need to get under the carpet but I don't want to mess it up. IHS Ted Leber |

Re: 2001 Buick Regal LS electrical problem.
IMO most likely at or towards the dashboard (right) fuse block assembly since that has been a known issue for some Regal and Grand Prix "W" body car owners. I recall corrosion issues or wiring directly at the fuse block.
Note: Until that is fixed I believe you will be missing 12 volts to the ALDL odb-ii port so a typical odb-ii scanner will not work if it needs to power off the port.
