It looks like the CRX's lines, but it's butt ugly IMO, the CRX died when the del sol came out =[.

you guys are all partially right. the del sol took the place of the CRX and the s2000 took the place of the del sol.

not really. i think they just died. honda didnt sell enough of them so they stopped. well i guess that wasnt the case with the crx, i think the crx just went out cos it was too boxy. but the del sol was a crx. i know a guy who owns a honda dealership up here and i remember when the del sol came out he was talking about that.
the s2000 is like hondas ploy to sell the people who want an NSX a car almost comparable. its like the "not so poor man's nsx". they realized the nsx was selling, but still too expensive to hit the market for anyone but doctors and stock brokers...so they made a car that would be pretty close in size and stature, and just as desireable, but without the price tag...and the acura symbol. well in the US anyways. the s2000 would be one hell of a del sol.

The Del sol was called the CRX everywhere else but america, so it is the ugly daughter of the crx and vtec =P. The S2000 could be a number of things, it somewhat replaces the del sol, but not really since it is so much more expensive and nothing close to the civic. It could also be honda's low cost alternative to a porsche. It also is somewhat like the new mr2 spyder. Or someone at honda said "holy crap guys, do you realize we havent had a convertible for a long time. Or a million other things.
On a side note, the s2000 is a gorgeous car and a vast improvement on the del sol. |

![]() The reasoning for the 3G CRX (Del Sol) being removed was that Honda had the Integra as their "sports hatch" and didn't want to confuse the buyers by giving them too many choices - one of the reasons most countries never see the entire Honda line-up. Plus it wasn't as popular as the 2G CRX. Pity - short of the S800, it was the prettiest of the Hondas, S2000 included. The S2000 is ok, pity it doesn't handle like an ITR for what you pay for it.
