Anyone wanna take credit for a fix???

I unplugged the juice to the truck for an hour, and cleaned the K&N, and then powered up the Jimmy. All the electrical problems are gone. The tranny is not in limp mode (3rd gear), the 4WD stays in 4lo, not defaulting back to 2lo, and 4hi still works, but now does 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, and cycles good. The ses light is gone, of course, and the gauges aren't spasin', and the key comes out of the switch, and the console shifter thumb button doesn't re-activate the dead guages.

NOW, the tilt wheel is down to stay, by choice, till I figure out if the ignition switch is bad, or if it's the little solenoid under the steering wheel that 'bowtie_pasta' referred to in his post, or if it's something else
that can be 'reset' by clearing the OBD-II memory.

What is failing? As opposed to failed? A shorted wire in the steering column, or is it a solenoid? What tests can I run before disassembly, for visual inspection???
