Unhappy Noooooo! No More Vtec!

hey, what's up everyone. here's my problem. yesterday, I was putting in my new hyperwhite headlights, and i had to move the battery out of the way to get to the high beam. after i was done, i looked down at the postive lead off of the battery, and where it connects to the starter, the nut that holds it on was missing, and the cable had obviously slipped off because nothing was holding it on anymore. Also, my car was overheating because of a bad connection for the cooling fan. so, i put a nut on there hand tight (i was at work - i'm a pizza delivery guy), and i went on a few deliverys. later on in the day, i tried to start my car and it wouldn't start. I popped the hood and noticed that the nut had fallen off. I put the only other nut i had (an acorn nut....which grounded out the post when it bottomed out on it) on it hand tight, and i tried to start it. i obviously didn't....so i rolled it down a hill and popped the clutch. now i was driving it, and i floored it in first gear....and VTEC sounded kind of quiet....AND THEN IT REV LIMITED ME AT 7500RPMS INSTEAD OF 8200!!!!!! i was like what the fuck!@#%!@$^ then I shifted into 2nd, and tried it again...this time it sounded like i had a damn ZC motor....no noticeable VTEC crossover....and once again it limited me at 7500. I brought it home...put the correct nut on the starter.....and tighted it down with a 12mm wrench. i still do not hit VTEC. PLEASE HELP.....I WAS SUPPOSED TO RACE THIS FOOL WITH A V8 JEEP ON SATURDAY.......I'VE ONLY BEEN WITHOUT VTEC FOR A MATTER OF HOURS....BUT I'M ALREADY EXPERIENCING WITHDRAWL. thanx (sorry for the insane length of this post)

try resetting the ecu after you reattach the wire correctly. unplug the fuse for it for 5 minutes then put it back in, then start the car without touching the gas and let it idle for 5 minutes to recalibrate, then try to hit vtec. hope that helps ya.

btw, im a pizza guy too, i work for domino's, how bout u?

one of two problems........ I gaurantee it.

Low on oil, or Engine not warmed up enough.

The B16 will rev limit you and disable VTEC if you dont have adequate oil pressure, or if the engine is cold. Both are precautionary measures...

As for VTEC, yeah @ 4800 rpms you can hear the cam profile changeover....

ride in any honda w/ a b16 or gsr in it, then you'd know..... it's like revvin normal then when it engages it's an immiate change in power and sound, i can't think of a good way to describe it, but it's a cool feelin.

This is for all you guys with VTEC. :finger:

J/P I'm jealous. I started saving for my B16 swap already, so now it's just a matter of time.
