chime location?

maybe im asking a stupid question, but does anyone know the location of the infamously annoying chime? because it has been annoying me and everyone else who even sets foot in the vehicle that i have decided to just get rid of the mofo. but for safety reasons, in its place i plan to put a red LED on the dash right next to the steering wheel to indicate a problem. and if i can get all that i need, i might wire a hideaway switch to swap between chime and LED. but the big thing on my mind is finding the location of the bugger. and yes, ive tried the common fixes for the chime issue (sliding door contacts, rear hatch contacts. i just pulled the plugs on those. drivers door i havent touched, but rather go with the LED atleast as a temporary relief on my ears. lol)

thx

also, on a side note: if anyone has the knowledge of it, mind giving a pinout of the connectors on the OEM amplifier for the '95 windstar? i bought it on ebay about a month or so back in preparation for a carpc install (plan to replace the HU altogether) and seeing as it only cost me $20 shipped, it was a major bargain compared to any other amp i could find. problem is, i dont think the main connector (14 pins i counted) is in our van (not from what i could tell. i only took a short glance at the connectors on the back of the HU. and ours is a '96, but i doubt the amp/connector's changed between the 2 years) and i dont even know what pins are what on the input connector either. that is unless someone knows a place i could find these connectors to go into the headunit. but ive checked places like metraonline, installer.com, etc.. and can only find connectors for aftermarket headunits to wire to the oem hu wiring.

How about just fixing the issue? Here is detailed info on fixing the chime issues. It is based on the rear door, however the only differance if it is one of the others is removal of the panel parts... It is rather easy to fix if you want too do a little work.

Re: chime location?

problem is, ive already tried all those fixes except for the drivers door which is a major PITA. and our mechanic wont be able to even look at it until when he is supposed to put in the new fuel pump which is another couple weeks if not a month down the road.

If you had read the link.. you would have seen it is not the same "fix" that you have read b4.. cus if you had done this it would be fixed.

Re: chime location?

you can't dump the chime - it's in the gem module and tampering causes bad side effects - you need to just fix the vehicle and the chime will be gone
