Progress: The "Jager-meister"
Well, with the R32 finished, I started this one today:
![]() As always, I started with the body. Sanded mold lines and replaced front spoiler with sheet styrene: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I decided that the rear wing was way too big and the molding was poor, so I scratchbuilt one from soda can aluminum ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I just have to get me some brass sheet or thicker styrene sheet. While I don't, I play with aluminum leftovers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In the meantime, I cut most of the parts from the trees, cleaned them and puttied some injection marks. These will all be painted semigloss black ![]() ![]() Thanks for looking. Pedro. |

Re: Progress: The "Jager-meister"
Nice work. I get the rear wing, but what was with the front spoiler that it has to be replaced? Was it just added on to?

Re: Progress: The "Jager-meister"
Great start Pedro, Jagermeister orange is such a cool livery. Nice work on the aerofoil. Do you intend to fill inside the wing or does it keep its shape as is?

Re: Progress: The "Jager-meister"
Thanks for the comments, guys.
SteveK: I removed the original spoiler because it was too thick. Here is a pic from tamiya website: ![]() Phil, the wing keeps its shape very well. I will only have to get a brass rod through it to make a positive gluing point to the sides. I'll probably build another one, I'm not quite happy with this.. Regards, Pedro. |

Update:
The hood vents were molded shut, so I decided to open them. I managed to brake one of the "fins", so had to replace it with sheet styrene: ![]() ![]() Confronting decals and reference pictures, I decided that this version had no lower front air intakes, so I closed them with plastic sheets, and sanded to shape: ![]() ![]() That orange stuff is homemade putty: tamiya extra thin cement and plastic sprue mixed in a glass cup: ![]() I still don't know how good it actually works, but I gave it a try this time, because Tamiya basic putty bleeds throught the primer I intend to use.... I also covered the hole in the floorpan with (again) styrene sheet, and completed the chassis member with styrene strips: ![]() ![]() Thanks for looking. |

Re: Progress: The "Jager-meister"
Looking good!
That homemade putty will work splendid, I've used the same home made stuff myself from time to time. I have a bottle with white sprues and liquid cement in my drawer, just add some more solvent if it gets thick and it stays usable forever. Just let it dry thoroughly before sanding it out, it can take quite a while to get hard as it softens the under laying plastic a bit. Niclas |

Today's update:
Not much, really. Just machined a new gear lever from aluminum rod and replaced the front shocks with aluminum shock absorvers and copper wire springs. ![]() ![]() Much, much better.... ![]() ![]() proosen: yes, it takes a while to dry, but it's wonderfull. I guess I won't be using tamiya putty to fill little holes and things like that anymore ![]() Thanks for looking. |
