ECC vs. Non-ECC RAM

This is for DDR RAM:

Actually, all I know is that ECC is more expensive, and that "Error Correcting" is part of the acronym. But how much better is it? Will non-ECC ram work if the MOBO is designed for ECC RAM?

ECC ram does exactly that: ERRor Corecting. It is used on servers to make sure the data is not corupted. But it will be slower than normal ram. plus more expensive. and motherboards are not specially designed for use with only ecc ram. they might recomended if you use some sever with very important data.

so for a normal computer use normal ddr ram
