2000 Blazer Noise Question

I have a 2000 Blazer that has started making a very loud noise, when "at speed". The noise is almost like a rolling of the tires, very low pitched, even, like whitenoise if you are familiar with that. It makes the same noise on every type of pavement, and usually after the car has warmed up and is driving along 30mph or more. It makes the sames noise in 2HI, 4HI and AUTO, and stops when I stop the car. I put it in neutral when moving towards a red light and the noise did not go away.

It doesn't seem to be coming from the front of the car. I had my dogs in the car yesterday with the back windows down and it seemed to be more noticable. It also seems to have started with the cold weather.

All guages are normal.

Any suggestions? Comments?

Re: 2000 Blazer Noise Question

I have a 1997 Blazer that makes a simlar noise. Has gotten worse I think, but has been happenning since the truck was purchased. Mine has 94000 miles and has a rebuil tranny. There is a grinding in the middle to rear but not sure where. Only when moving, not at idle or even when in 4 wheel drive. Possibly something with the tires or roters, I"m not to sure.

Blazer Noise

Nothing happens when I swerve other than my gf's getting sick. Anyway nothiung I do seems to affecti it when I'm moving. One of my shocks makes a weird squeking noise when I go over something big and my front end bounces but I don't know if that has anything to so with it. Anyway any other suggestions?

Try an X rotation of the tires. Not just front to rear. Really sounds like a wheel bearing though.

I had my right front wheel bearing go out on me. Same type of noise you describe. It was relative to wheel speed. When I swerved to right the noise would go away. When I put the truck on the lift, the noise went away. I guessed that the right front bearing was unloaded in the swerve, and also unloaded on the lift. I replaced it for $135 and I had guessed right. The noise went away.

Blazer Noised fixed

I Just got the noise fixed. The Blazer ahd never had its bearings packed or changed. The 2 rear and the front left were shot. It cost me 165 for all of them. Now everythings good, just gotta get those rotors and drums turned and we'll have a nice quiet ride. Thanx everyone for your help.

Re: 2000 Blazer Noise Question

hey how did you replace the 2 rear wheel bearings? are they sealed hub and bearing units like the front or are they just a simple bearing itself? because i am experiencing the EXACT same problem you described here, and want to get rid of it because i love my truck and other than that noise it drives great and quiet. any help on the rear bearing replacement would be most appreciated, im going to pick up a haynes manual tomorrow too to see what i can find. thanks!!!!
