Aoshima "Funky Wheels"

I found this kit on Model Express (http://www.modelexpress.net/cgi-bin/...AOS_33906.html) and I was wondering if those "Funky wheels and tires" are available seperate of the kit? Or really, any funky wheels with those particular funky tires. I did as much digging as I know how to do, but I know some folks around here at AF know some good information and where to find it, so I thought I'd query here and pick some brains.

And while we're talking about oldschool Celicas, isn't this freakin' cool?!

Re: Aoshima "Funky Wheels"

You can barely see the wheels in this pic but it looks like thye're SSR MKII. If they are then yes, the wheels are on future release as seperate items.

The other Celica. My LHS has that kit. It's not bad actually. Very old school.

EDIT: BTW, if you Google "Chikichiki racing or Tikitiki racing" the first hit should be the Aoshima Toyota list ("Accessories (10)"). Besides the other cool Nostalgia cars the "winking" Celica is listed with pictures.

Re: Aoshima "Funky Wheels"

Are you sure? The 70's fastback Celica has the Techno Sakuras. I ordered that specific kit which is THIS one.

The wheels Willimo is talking about is packaged with THE OTHER CELICA. Both pictures (of the contents) closely resemble the SSR MKII which is going to be a future release by it's self.

Re: Aoshima "Funky Wheels"

I'm just interested in the cheapest way to get those tires, as I'm going to put them on different rims anyway.

Re: Aoshima "Funky Wheels"

Ah....that may change things. Since the SSR MKII is a re-release who knows what kind of SSR MKII Aoshima will release. If it's the standard wheel set from before or if the chikichiki staggered rims w/stretch wall tires is anybodys guess. Only time will tell for the individual sale. Obviously, kit bashing the Celica would yield those tires.

I received my Liftback Celica last night. The rim and tire combination is freakin' cool.

Re: Re: Aoshima

Damn, those SSR's are nice! I wonder how it looks on a Honda. Ofcourse i would have to use only the front wheels. Meaning order two sets. They look too hot.

Re: Aoshima "Funky Wheels"

They have those kits in my LHS...the tires are sick! They also have the Aoshima D1 DRFT Pan Speed RX7 which was a major dissapointment by not having the fender flares. (probably old news)

Re: Aoshima "Funky Wheels"

Ive seen the range of these kits on the internet, the Aoshima wesite seems to be sold out. Being in Australia, does anyone know where I can buy online, Ive only seen one American website and it seems it might be quite expensive to ship. Im inparticular looking for the toyota corona model, found on http://www.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scripts/...=2004&month=11
