B16a Turbo--> Cost Efficiency?? help

Im wondering how good a B16a if its turbocharged?

What are the things needed to be done to the internals of the engine to accomodate 12psi of boost from a turbo?

What are the drawbacks? like lag and all ..and how do u avoid it?

Any special way of maintaining such engine?

How fast do this things go?

Thanks guys! Im just a curious joe here..hehe! hope you can help!

God Bless!

u prolly need to get the engine resleeved new lower compression pistons. the only lag is turbo lag, bigger the turbo, mad power but also mad lag. maintain it by not boosting it at 12 lbs all the time. remember to get a turbo timer for the spindown.

You don't need to resleeve your motor, you don't even have to open it up.

In order to be safe, with 12psi on a B16A, you will need the following:

- ample fuel: 370cc injectors, in tank hi-flow fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator
- spark: I prefer MSD...box, wires, plugs, etc...
- tuning: A'pex V-AFC, Hondata, DFI, etc...

So long as you have ample fuel and spark, and the motor is well tuned, you will be fine. B-series Honda motors are extremely strong. They can withstand 350hp...but only if they are well tuned. Tuning is key. On a daily driven turbocharged B-series Honda motor, you should really never have to mess with a built motor unless you plan on spinning your wheels, and getting smoked by Geo Metro's because you have no traction...

what do u mean by "you should really never have to mess with a built motor unless you plan on spinning your wheels"?

By the way...what have you heard about HKS ball bearing t25s? How are they...I was thinking of going for as low as 8psi so I can preserve more engine life and those f-con piggys sounds nice too.

Whatcha guys think about this? What about injectors..what type are ideal for this kind of turbo?

Thanks guys!!

By saying that, I mean that the stock motor can handle up to 350hp. On the street, 350hp is so much that you will already have NO traction. Anything more, and you will be even worse off for the most part...

There is a civic with a turbo B16a here, which apparently runs mid 11's for a quarter mile.

I used to have a B16A with a custom Rev Hrd turbo kit in my EJ. B16A turbos are SICK! My car ran 12s on street tires. I never clocked it on real slicks, but it was an 11 second car. That was with the stock internals. After I built it, it didn't change, I never really boosted extremely high, but you get the idea...it was extremely fast, and was my one and only daily driver.
