2000 Alero problems, possible sensors????

I have a 2000 Alero with the 3.4L V6. At about 100000 miles started to notice sometimes after I start the vehicle the RPM's will rev up & down as if I'm rev the car with accelerator. Doesn't seem to occur after taking out of park.

Don' t know if this is related to the problem with the RPM's dropping several hundred while cruising at highway speeds with cruise control on. Causing the cruise control to shut off. This will also occur from time to time when not using the cruise control.

Could this be a oxygen sensor? If so would anyone know if it would be the front or rear sensor? Also does anyone know how many oxygen sensors my car would have? I have heard anywhere from 2 to 5. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

could be the ECM/PCM, MAP sensor or throttle position sensor (if these thangs have em) crap, it could even be a faulty spark plug or coil. far as a O2 sensor there should only be one, and it should be located somewhere on the manifold(s), but then again we are talking about a General Morons product (so there may be one more on the cat convertor). Good Luck with it.
