WIP: Entex Mazda Rx2

Well i just added a new kit to the mazda rotary collection. Picked it up from ebay. Now while the standard of my model making skills is nowhere near the level of other ppl on here. I thought i would post it up just because of the rarity factor:

Very nostalgic...I built the series of RX's back when they were new (RX2, RX3, RX4, RX5/Cosmo), but I was a kid and didn't save them and I did a crappy job building them. With today's skills they can be very nicely finished, though the odd scale is a bit off-putting. I owned a 1:1 RX4 coupe and would love more than anything to have a 1/24 scale model of it; but I doubt that's ever going to happen. Oh well...I'm doing a '77 RX3 SP eventually

Good luck w/this one! It was the first Entex (Bandai) RX that I ever built. I remember the orange plastic very well...

Re: WIP: Entex Mazda Rx2

Yeah all i need is an rx4 kit and r100 kit, and i i have the whole rx range, though with the prices that these things sell for i dont think i can afford them lol. I love rx4's i have a 1st gen rx7 that im doing up aswell, my friends uncle just recently purchased a very clean original example of an rx4. Not as popular as other rx's but i think thats what makes tehm more attractive. Im absolutely obsessed with these things (sickening really lol)

Well wonder upon wonders, I now am back in posession of my Entex/Bandai 1/20 scale RX4 that I bought at my very first model car swap meet in 1981! My friend still had it, unbuilt (I primed it and did some minor putty work is all), he's got a built one, and he gave the unbuilt one back to me when I visited at Thanksgiving (had me promise to build it and not sell it; he wants first dibs). He'll get it back someday, as he has a complete collection of these 1/20 scale kits (he's got two of the RX2's built and even has a Bandai early '80's Luce/Cosmo sedan I gave him that I found in a Japanese toy store in LA some 25 years ago). We even dug out his built R100-he had converted one of the RX2's and the R100 to the round-headlamp style we got in the US. I'm going to use the RX4 kit as 3D inspiration to create one in 1/24 scale. I'm looking at a Johan Mercury Comet from about 1971 and it's a good basic start-similar lines/proportions but needs a LOT of massaging; but I'll end up eventually w/a great model of my beloved old RX4 coupe.

I may not be able to resist putting on Minilites and a twin-turbo 13B from the Tamiya FD3 RX7 R1 kit

Both? I have the RX4 back, but the R100 isn't mine. I know how rare the RX4 kits are; in all the shows I've been to in 25 years I've only found two of them (and only one R100). The RX2/RX3/RX5 Cosmo were all easier to find than the RX4 for some reason. Honestly the RX4 kit isn't exactly a perfect representation of the real car...there are a few shape discrepancies that the other kits don't seem to have. Who knows, the tooling may still be around and they'll get reissued some day. The Bandai rotary engine kit is still around.

If you ever decide to "give it away" you know who to see ....ive seen an rx4 kit on ebay once, and r100 kit on there twice.... if only i was born rich!...

That rx4 of yours looks great btw!....that would be worth a bit of money here in australia...the rotary scene down here is pretty big, especially in the current time....
