Question WilliamsBMW FW24 questions

Hello!
What color i need to use to paint wheels?
Tamiya said TS-42, but is too dark, and as i see at another models - color very similar to steel.

Where i can find good reference photo? Search on this forum doesn't helps - dead links everywhere

If you head over to the motorsport reference archive, you'll see this link:

And I have tons of other pictures, but they are a bit big to upload....If you are interested, just pm me

Regards,
Pedro.

Yup, just red x's and no pictures of the wheels at all in the pictures that do show up.

Check out Steve Yeun's build up of Revel''s FW23. His site also has a build up of a Studio 27 FW24. It might give you some direction as to how to do the wheels.

The thing about the wheels on the Williams is that every picture I have shows the wheels in various states of use. If it's before the race, the wheels are a very bright, almost white aluminum. By the end of the race their so covered in brake dust they're almost black.

I personally like Steve's method. Painting them in a buffing aluminum paint, then coat them in a light wash of smoke to give them a used look.

I think I used Model Master Metalizer buffing aluminum and buffing gunmetal, 1+1 ratio, I thought that was close enough to light gunmetal which I didn't have. pics on my website

I just remembered that thesaint111 built this kit awhile back. Here is the link to his completed FW24 Maybe he can tell you what he used for his wheels or it is in the progress thread.
