when the u.s. evo 7 gets here , if i were to put intake, headers, downpipe, highflow cat, cat-back exhaust, ball-bearing turbo, boost control, chip, and other small mods, how much hp. do you think the evo 7 would safely run, for a daily driver/racer???????
i saw that the eXtreme S evo 7 only had 350 hp (not that that isnt alot) but it seemed like i was fully modded, is that about the max, and would that even be able to hadle daily driving?????? thanks guys |

a new turbo and remapping the ECU is gonna give you a lot of hastle. you'll have to dyno that thing quite a bit to tune in the timing and mixtures. those things don't just come plug and play, even when they're sold as a package (such as stage 1). any good tuner will tell you that you'll have to put dyno time in when you do something like that cuz every car is different. and what about suspension? i know the suspension is already great, but if the power isn't enough for you, then you're probably gonna want to lower and stiffen the car too. this will cost extra money. just chiming in.

We have a tuning house here which is the dealer for Apexi products. A couple of months ago their Evo 7 was featured in our papers. The car was dynoed at 322 HP on A DTS 4WD Friction brake chassis dyno. The list of bolt on parts r :
1. Apexi cat back exhaust system 2. Apexi cat replacement 3. K&N open pod filter 4. An in- house heat shield 5. Apexi S-AFC 6. Apexi AVC-R 7. After market fuel pump. The cost of the above items is about 10000 Malaysian Ringgit which is about 2650 US Dollars

I was wondering the same, how much can handle internals and tranny???
I'm in a debate with myself, about spending more money in my car or just save to buy a EVO. And almost everything depends on how much HP, the internals and tranny can handle in a EVO. In my case, if i buy a turbo kit for my mustang (around $7K), i can make around 800HP, but of course i have to change transmission, internals, fuel system, brakes... etc etc......and that is about OTHER $10K ..!!! 2evos, 322HP is not bad for $2650 ... if they are 4WHP... i'm not sure how much is the loss after the crank in a AWD, but, in a RWD is about 15%, and those 322HP will be just 273HP..!!!

The 322hp on the dyno is at the wheels not on the engine.

A turbo kit for your mustang that puts out 800 hp and costs $7000! Why are you even wasting your time on this EVO forum? Everyone here must seem like a bumbling buffoon for wasting his or her time considering a car as slow as the EVO with its meager 280 hp. It seems like a clear-cut decision. Buy the turbo for $7000 and slap on a set of drag tires for another $300. Another $3000 in accessories to support the 800hp turbo and you should be all set. You will not need to worry about the tranny or drive train since you will have so much wheel spin any time you touch the throttle. After you get things tuned and streetable you should consider finding a wrecked Mercury Mountaineer for its AWD tranny and drive train. ($2000) I am sure that its tranny will handle the 800 hp your car is now putting out as well as bolt up to your ford block. I am not sure if the front drive shafts will slide in but a man with your genius should have no problems getting it to work. Please post pictures to this forum when you complete this project.

Hey Matt very sarcastic guy...,
Don't get this wrong, but, just, in case, if you think i'm a redneck driving a domestic car... you are wrong. i love sport cars, period, i don't care about if is a Mitsu or Ford. I just want keep open my options. The chances to get $7000 for the stage 2XX of a turbo for my car (www.turbodrivenconcepts.com) are not good for now. Because, besides the $2000 for install that thing, the basic problem is that i have to change almost all transmission, actually, ALL the transmission, clutch, carbon composite driveshaft, rear, brakes etc etc. Not talking about billet rods, pistons, a new crank. Total cost, around $15,000 or more. The new modular engines not are very easy to work in. Just to get my heads ported and polished, one shop is charging me $1500 for labor !!! So, another option is buy a car that can handle a lot of power (like the Supra Turbo) and keep installing new mods little by little. Therefore, i asked how much can handle a Evo VII, is a lot cheaper and if is like the Sti, is a heck fun car to drive..!! ![]() I just want to learn, I drove a Sti in Argentina about one year ago and that's it... remember there are not dumb questions... only dumb answers.. peace.

1/2 the horsepower and a good driver are better then twice the horsepower and a bad driver. Save your money the cars gonna be pritty quick on its own. Never forget you'll never be the fastest one on the street, there's always someone who's faster. Just my 2 cents cause thats all I got!!!!

Somebody knows what's the lost in drivetrain in a AWD?? In a rear wheel drive, after the flywheel, we say that is a 15% in a stick shift and about 18% in an automatic... somebody knows??
