Re-apolstering

Okay, so my whole interior is pretty thrashed and I would like to re-apolster it. I'm wondering what are some good, cheap ways. I have a friend that knows how to sew really well and has re-apolstered chairs, etc. So im wondering if this is completely different. And where to get materials for cheap, or some direction as to the process. Cutting foam, way's to make it nice and comfy. Or it is not worth it and should I just go in for the $300 to buy some new racing seats?

with cost of materials it will be under 300 if u do it urself. no it is not hard to do it. but make sure when u do it u use a razor blade to separate each piece of fabric on the seat, the razor blade is used to cut off the old threads in the seam. u take the piece u took off and lay it out onto a new piece of material and trace around it with chalk or something else u can see that WONT bleed thru the material. cut it out, and stitch it back up the same way as factory with new foam underneath if it originally had foam. put the seat back together and hogring it back together underneath.
really... its not hard. where i used to work we could have seats taken apart, re-done and back together in about an hour or 2 depending on the job, just a simple fix like repairing a tear took us around 20 mins to do (thats taking the seat apart and back together as well)

sweetness, i researched some interior pics on the forums and found the one with the CRX in the door panel, it looked really sweet!!

Sweet. Thanks for all the help guys! Now to find some sic material to use. Anyone have any info on confortable but breathable material to use?
