Skidplates - Canadian made

The new rear bumper and skidplates are ON. The plates (3/16", I think) cover the belly from the front to the back of the exhaust crossover pipe behind the transfer case. Access holes are cut for front diff, transmission and engine oil drains and torsion bar adjustment bolts.

The rear bumper is 2x6", 65" wide and sits at 37 degree angle to follow contour of the body. Shackle points are CNC cut and welded on. Receiver hitch is also cut at an angle and sits flush with the bumper. Bottom of the bumper is at same level as rear bottom of the bed. That's what it's there to protect. Four grade 8 bolts per side hold it tight. "L" shaped reinforcement is used inside the frame.

Did you fabricate all that yourself? Nice work!

How are you going to use the receiver hitch at that angle? I guess you could make a receiver with a bend so that it come out level?

Looks like the actual receiver is level and he just cut the end of it so it's flush with the bumper. Otherwise, an insert would slide in and run into the truck bed!

I really like the front skid plate.

Doh! That makes sense. I guess the fact that he cut the receiver flush with the bumper makes it look like everything is at an angle.

It doesn't look like it but the receiver is level, just cut at the same angle as the bumper.

No, I didn't do the work myself. It takes skill and know-how and tools. The work was done in Red Deer by Mark at Rocky Mountain Off Road [email protected] (403) 348-0160. These parts should be available shortly.

BTW. Pictures of our Saturday trip are up at http://www.geocities.com/thehansfords/index.htm
