2002 rsx(not the s type)

Everyone has mentioned the grind from 1st to 2nd gears in the rsx-s. I have a rsx with 1200 miles and it too grinds 1st -2nd but is not the S type.It being a 5 speed .Has any one else had this problem.Please advise

I'm thinking about acquiring an RSX Type-S and haven't heard anything about this grind that you are talking about. Do you know what it is or what causes it?

I've got a 2002 5-speed, haven't experience any grinding yet...have just over 1000kms on it

I've talked to some people in af forums and they say that it was an early '02 problem and that 1-2 is definately one of the most unsmooth shifts, didnt'sound like there was anythign to worry about though.:smoker2:

I have a 2002 base rsx. My gears grind right at the end of shift from 2nd to 3rd. I belive the problem is the syncors. Mine is at the shop now getting repaired. This started to happen at high revs and when the transmission was warmed up. I have 22,000 km on it. Im gettin it back today and will repost cost, if any and the specific problem.(If they make me pay i'll be sooo MAD!!)

Some people say that its the way you shift. Tons of people have the problem however. I heard that the Revo SS kit diminishes the grind. I've never experienced grind in 2.5 years though.....

I also have a 2003 base RSX it grinds from 1st to 2nd only when switching at high RPMs also only happensds once in awhile, no idea what causeing it tho

Its a pretty well known problem, but I have an 02 Type S (around the 900th one made) and i've never gotten it.

I test drove an '03 rsx-s last night and there was a grind from 1st to 2nd. The car only had 7k miles on it too so apparently it's not a problem that develops over time.
