What the ?????

Well...it's like this. I posted a reply in a thread stating something about my Tiburon and how it was still under warranty. *ahem* Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your Tib is under warranty, (below the 60,000 miles) shouldn't the dealer warrant the replacement of the following:

Clutch Assembly
Flywheel
Plastic door panel (drivers side has broken pocket)
Hazard light button sticks

I made these complaints to the dealer and since they told me that my Tib was under warranty they would be happy to look at my car. So I take it up there and get a call today only to find out they will ONLY replace one stupid thing. The console lid. (it was completely broke) The clutch assebly is $900 plus another $200 for the flywheel. The plastic door panel.....is $500. Hazard light button... $40.

They told me that the clutch is only warrantied for the first 12,000 miles. Umm....ok fine. You should've told me BEFORE when I was giving you my problems to be looked at Mr. Jim Leach (the service rep). What a stupid son of a $#%&@. I wasted my time going 1 hour out of my way to the closest Hyundai dealer only to find out that they will replace my stupid @$$ console lid. What a friggin joke. Can anyone confirm that these prices are legit with Hyundai or am I just getting scamed/ripped off here? I'm going to check out a couple of local junk yards. There are 2000 Tibs in them and I at LEAST want that dang door panel. I can't believe it was $500....for a piece of stupid plastic!!!

Re: What the ?????

clutch is a wear and tear item... you have to replace that yourself... find one online for a hell of alot cheaper....
look on ebay/ junk yards for a door panel... def cheaper than the dealer
and teh hazard button... ebay/ junkyard

Re: What the ?????

clutch should not need replacing under 60,000 miles. Neither should the flywheel. The clutch I can understand not being covered under warranty because it is a wear/tear item, but the flywheel is not. $900 for a clutch is a little pricy, even from a dealer. You can get an aftermarket clutch for around $300, but it is still gonna cost you another couple hundred to have someone install it. Unless you want to try and tackle it yourself. I don't know how hard the tibs clutch is to replace, but you have to seperate the engine from the transaxle. Which usually means lifting the engine out of the bay a little.

I got a call back from the Hyundai dealer today and here's whats going down....

They're going to replace the synchronizers, which is causing the grinding when I shift from 2nd to 3rd when I go above 30MPH in 2nd gear. Other than that...they tell me that they don't know what condition the flywheel is in unless they pull out the engine and take apart the tranny. Said it would cost me like $400 to do that. (for the flywheel) I just told those @$$'es to fix only what was warrantied, b/c I don't have that kind of cash! I'm a poor mo fo with too many damn bills.

However, I will go check out some junkyards/eBay for the door panel and other small stuff I need. Thanks for the help guys!

Re: What the ?????

Yeah, but the warranty covers the cost of labor to figure out what the problem is. You need to talk to another dealership or call Hyundai corp. and complain that they are charging you for labor.

Dude, go to google.com and type in Hyundai USA and go to their webpage and look it up. I probably could have found it in the time it took to write this message.

That's shitty dude did your ass hat service advisor give you a reason for not warrantying the parts?...garaunteed if you talk to the dealer principle about it he would want to keep you as a customer so would do what he can for you. If not get ahold of the customer service # on www.hyundaiusa.com and complain, they (the dealer) should give you the reasons they will not warranty it, like if they think you broke it or something, maybe ask to deal with the service manager instead of that service writer, make enough noise and something will happen, un fortuneatly the clutch will not be warrantied, and true they will not be able to tell the condition of the flywheel so best to plan for it, if it doesn't need machining at least you are ahead of the game. And unless you have a 6 speed tb your flywheel is machineable...myabe a $40 charge, you should definitely not need a NEW flywheel.

OMFG scottsee....why don't you just STFU and leave this forum? You had an early post saying "thats ok.. i have 2 hyundai's, just fuc*in with ya." If that holds true, then keep your lame comments to yourself. I'm sure that ONE of the reasons why this forum is here, is to help people learn more and understand our types of vehicles. If you can't figure that out by now, then just STFU and keep your lame comments to yourself.
