The guy had a brand new BMW which made me laugh even more.

Ran out just before a petrol station once.......had enough momentum to just coast right up to the pump.....that was some lucky sh*t right there.

That was back when I was a uni student and had little money to run my car

Actually, I've run on fumes before. The car refused to go up a hill, so I had to go the other way to the gas station. I just got going as fast as I could on the fumes (about 120 kph, in a 50 zone ), clutched in, and coasted about a km to the gas station and filled up

Only once in my old Mazda. We thought we had enough to fill it up after our trip out. Turns out we didn’t! :hehehe:

Even worse: Anyone ever filled up, then went in to pay and had no money? I did that once, had to call my mom to come give me some money

Never happened in my car, but once when I was off the mill property in a work truck (it was all legal, I had to go to the airport to get some flown-in parts.)

To make it short, my company truck was in for service, and no one mentioned to me that the one I was using had a busted gauge. I got about 10mi on the highway, then the truck just died. I had my radio with me and called a guy from the mill garage, and he came out with a 5gal can.

I was baffled at first as I thought the truck had broke down. Never even thought that the gauge might be broke.

I'm guilty of that too! I once filled my petrol car up with diesel. Luckily for me too I realised before starting the car and the assistant at the petrol station drained my tank for me. I was so embarrassed I never went back to that particular petrol station!

....and let the comments begin....

Iv run out of gas in the triumph when the fuel guage wasnt working, bloody embrassing when your wearing your Shell uniform on your way home from work, and you have to hitch a lift.

The lynx used to run out a few times as well, the tank was only big enough to hold just enough gas to get me home and to work again, provided I drove it gently one way. If I really really threashed it, it would use a whole tank just getting home so if the local gas station didnt have any fuel then it was a pretty close thing as to whether I got to work or not.
