Fuel Low mileage

My 4 runner 1998 limited is consuming mi pocket in fuel, how do I can get more fuel economy. Should I get new Spark plugs, I changed all filters Air, Fuel. May be The Fuel inyectors, I dont know. Thanks (My 4 runner wasnt so much of a fuel spender before).

What kind of mileage are you getting? this will be a good place to start figuring this out.

First thing I would do is check to see if there are any diagostic codes in the computer that would indicate a problem with a sensor.

Codes would likely make a light come on. Do you have any lights that have come on and gone out or staying on?

I have heard that not all codes make the CEL light come on. Do you know differently, C-DUBYA? I don't know for sure.

Too many models for me to keep up with...

Actually, 12.5 mpg would be around normal for pure city driving in heavy traffic.

If there are no codes, check the ignition timing and clean your injectors.
