Which Supercharger . . ?

So ive got all the basic upgrades with the exceptions of H/C/I and i want to get a low psi supercharger that can be easily upgraded. I think its come down to the vortech or the ATI Procharger. I know vortech offers the 2.75" pulley i think but i dont know about procharger. Im gonna be porting my intake manifold after that, which supercharger is best all round performance and reliability? How much would be too much psi. Powerdynes are real cheap but i hear they suck, plus i love the vortech sound!

ps. why do these prices change so much from place to place, it boggles my mind...

trying not to excede 3500 for parts

BBk throttle body, CAI
75 mm MAF, 24# injectors
king cobra clutch and short shift
eibach's, air shocks, roll bars

Re: Which Supercharger . . ?

I'm a real big fan of ATI prochargers, so I would say go with them.

ATI makes good power but the are not as complete or well thought out as Vortech kits IMO. Vortech's sounds can be louder or quieter depending if you get straight cut gears or helicut gears on the blower.

I have the Vortech 98gt 4.6 kit on mine and it rocks!! I Gained 140=/- hp with it. Thats a 62% increase in hp.
I think they have the best all around kit. Complete and ready to go.
Ati is having "mount" (where the blower mounte to engine) problems latelt. they had a bad batch of molds/forged mounts that were off by 3/10 of an inch and caused you belts to break and or wear/fall off.
I bought an ATI and it would not Mount correctly and the shop tested it and that was the problem............so I went Vortech and am Happy!

Re: Which Supercharger . . ?

have you looked at Kenne Bell, they make good superchargers. They are safe, good lower PSI range, and make boost lower than anybody else cuase of the twin-screw architecture that they use.

Hey DDMTK421DS, What octane do you need to feed it? I can't seem to find the fuel requirements on the VortechEngineering.com website.

Re: Which Supercharger . . ?

Vortech YS-Trim

They're actually quieter than the S-trim and T-trims, and can be had for cheaper than an S-trim. All you need to do is add a bigger maf, injectors, fuel pump(s) and you're good to go.
