Passat hesitating
Hi, Here are the details
1995 VW Passat 2.0 Auto 177K on the clock recent oil change New Plugs, cap, rotor, wires and ignitor less than 3000 miles ago. Symptoms: Car has difficulty starting at times Car has difficulty holding idle (revs up and down but never above 1000 rpm) Feels like the car is not getting enough fuel or maybe air. Spark was taken care of a while ago. Also: some of the Vacuum and EGR plumbing has been adjusted. A large orange "EGR" or "Vacuum" switch mounted at the drivers-side of the engine block has been removed (bypassed). The car ran fine for 2000 miles without it. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you |

Same car, same problem
Hey, I too have a 1995 Passat GL 4 cyl that lags a bit. It's strange though because it doesn't seem to be consistent. My problem is when the car is stopped and I attempt to start the car it "boggs" down for just a few seconds, then kicks into normal power and I take off like a rocket. It takes about 2-3 seconds to recover. The car does not do this at all if it's moving (not sure if it's torque specific). I gave it to two mechanics the first told me nothing was wrong and I was nuts, the second said it was the idle stop which he adjusted (and the problem got better; "boggs" less & recovers faster) but alas I am still dealing with it. The car runs perfect otherwise I am just anal about perfection. Any thoughts?
New Gas Filters; Plugs/Wires; Core; belts; breaks... O2 sensor? Vacuume sensor? Fuel Injection? |
