how much boost to run on modded mr2 turbo
Please tell me about what my safe boost limit should be with the below listed set up.
93' MR2 turbo JE pistons 9-1 comp JE rings Carillo rods Apex i 1.5mm headgasket HKS 264D intake cam HKS 265D exhaust cam HKS vlave spring set Greddy 20G turbo TD06 Walbro high press / high flow pump GSS341 540 cc injectors 3 angle valve job bowl blend we are using a SAFC-II for tuning. I need to know what the highest safe boost ammount would be to tune this car to. Thank you for any help.

I would just monitor your knock sensor and air-fuel ratios and tune based on that. Since you have upgraded the fuel system, I would suspect that 17-19psi will easily keep your AFRs in a safe range.
You might also want to think about upgrading the stock intercooler because that is a large bottleneck and is not very efficient. Tim Beck '91 TD-06 Superwhite

I would highly recommend getting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator:
www.trueleo.com/fpr.htm Tuning with the SAFC only is a recipe for disaster with the turbo MR2. As you lean out fuel, the ECU will advacne timing until things go boom. It is safer to adjust your base idle FP, before you start tuing the SAFC. As far as boost goes, I would not run over 15 psi unless you have: *upgraded intercooler *Water injection *race gas OR You car was tuned to run more boost safely (no knock) OR you don't care if your engine goes boom. I am a cautisuous person, which is why I race at 22 psi on an unopened 3sgte with 197,000 origina lmiles on it with no problems. I don't like problems.

Hey Jek, you been back on the dyno recently? And have you run it since the rollbar install and the latest weight reduction?

I have had no reason to re-dyno ... so no.
I have done one run since the weight reduction and I had some issue on the run ... stupid issues. All is resolved now. I ran a 12.7 @ 113, there is an in car video I posted on the MR2 board in the drag forum along with a description of the issues I had.
