tranny problems
I have a 96 excort with the 4 cyl 1.9
ON cold starts i will start driving, but the first time that I slow to a stop, at a stop sign or light, The tranny drops into neutral and will not go into gear. I have to rev the engine up until it pops into gear. It is a good tranny, the entire car only has 40, 000 miles on it and it is completely cherry, and since a new tranny is $2300 , i need help. Has anyone else had this problem with that tranny ( for the 1.9 liter engine, automatic tranny, fllor shhift). If you have had that problem, what did you do to fix it. any help will be great. |

Re: tranny problems
95 escort with similar problem, had to have tranny rebuilt, cost less than replacing it. Ask around.

tranny problems
Just read you post today. I suggest you check the brake fluid since the transmission runs off of a hydrolic clutch system. The brake fluid reservoir also feeds the slave cylinder that controls the clutch when you step on the pedal. If the fluid is low it may not be getting enough pressure to fully disengage the clutch.
