Question #6 cyl. missfire dtc

I have a 96 mercury sable, 3.0, with 41,000 miles. I started car cold & let warm up, check engine light began flashing. Checked plug wire, & repl. plug. Is there any common probles or tsb's for this complaint ?

Re: #6 cyl. missfire dtc

Yes, i have seen at least 4 occurances of the same exact thing u describe, including my own vehicle. Its a 2000 duratec. #6 was misfireing and causing the check engine to blink. in each case there was moisture found on and around the plug for that cylinder. Take out the coil, relplace the plug, and dry the hell out of it with a hair dryer or a heat gun. Once completly dried you should be fine. Most likely there is water somehow in that #6 cylinder. I was able to fix it by drying it out and switing #5 with #6 just to see if it was the coil or not, it turned out that the coil was fine, and it was the moisture thatw as casuing the misfire.
