Is Tamiya Primer not available in the UK?
I just cannot seem to find it anywhere - either in shops or off any web sites.
IF t isn't whats the best alternative for Resin 1/43rd. I'm a touch nervous of Halfords primer. Thanks |

For resin I use Tamiya primer, no probs. Just make sure you clean up the resin well and get all the silicon mold release agent off or it will fish-eye (like any primer).
For metal or resin you could buy a tin of Halfords Cellulose Primer and air brush it on, it's good stuff. All their paints are good in fact. What are you building?

Re: Is Tamiya Primer not available in the UK?
I've heard that Halfords primer is coarser than the Tamiya stuff and also that it can crack.
I'm building a PM Ferrari Daytona NART and a couple of 360 Modenas. You guys UK based? Seems most are from over t'other side of the pond. |

Tamiya primer is available, but may require some searching for!
You'll be fine with Halfords primer on resin, the cracking stories you've heard about would definitely been on plastic bodies! But it is much coarser, might be worth searching the net for a supplier of the Tamiya item for ya! I'm UK based! |

Look in one of the HobbyCraft retail stores. They have Tamiya Primer in spray cans

Re: Is Tamiya Primer not available in the UK?
I found that the Hobby Company that imports Tamiya Products no longer imports Tamiya Primers into the UK.
So I order mine from www.hlj.com I also use Halfords primer with out much trouble, just lightly sand it back after it dry and it'll come up nice and smooth |

Re: Is Tamiya Primer not available in the UK?
I have tried several of the HobbyCraft stores and they don't stock it. It appears that the Tamiya Importer doesn't bring it in for some reason (they import many if not all the paints).
I tried your contact Steve, - www.hlj.com. They stated that they will not export oil-based paints due to paperwork etc. Anyone use Humbrol Primer? I am still after something finer than the Halfords stuff. |

Where abouts are you Bboss?
I can get the primer at my local shop. Could post some if you want. Hobbycraft stopped supplying Tamiya stuff. It was overpriced there anyway! Avoid anything Humbrol! |

Also HobbyCraft stock lots of Pearlescent type paints that could be used to a degree on models. I have not tried it but i wonder what the results would look like? |

UK based mainly 1:43rd modeler. Been using Halfords stuff for years and never had a problem. It's the smoothest spray can primer I've used, but if you want real smooth get some 3600 grit polishing cloth to use when it's dry. I smooths out luvverly... and there top coats are pretty good un all!

Re: Is Tamiya Primer not available in the UK?
I don't really have a Hobbycarft store nearby - but the response I have had from several of them states they don't stock it - which ties in with your message Guiddy. EddieT2002, where is your Hobbycraft store where they stock it.
Interesting what you state Lotus Man. |

Re: Is Tamiya Primer not available in the UK?
I have emailed all the 20 Hobbycraft stores, including the Basildon one. The 7 replies i have had back, state that they don't stock Tamiya primer. Admittedly I haven't had a response from Basildon.
