Question Shifter is sticking

My automatic shifter is sticking when it gets cold. I have to apply a bit of pressure to get it to shift into Drive or to any gear. This only seems to happen when it is near freezing outside. I just got this car so I hope it is not anything too major. Am I going to break something by "forcing it"? What should I do to alleviate this problem.

thanks!

Well..first thing is first...make sure you didnt drop anything in the boot area that is lodged somewhere. I do that alot with coins. That could be your problem

Like I said though...only when its cold. If it were coins then it would act up during warmer weather too.
