Hello,
My fathers Blazer has had on and off problem for a while. It's got the vortec 4.3L code W motor..... Egr Has been cleaned, top engine cleaner treatment also. Last week the battery died.... no problem right? WRONG. It didnt want to restart after the battery replacement. After it finally did, it seemed to run funny at first, then smooth out. It was running OK until lastnight. It began sputtering and bucking, then smoothed out, back and forth for a bit, then it began to run like it dropped a few cylinders...... For the longest time now the SES light has been coming on and going off, and yesterday he had a fuel smell..... It has 36-37psi fuel pressure inline after the fuel filter, which it seems to hold and it has blue spark. I'm also wondering what passlock is/ does, and if it could cause any of these problems? My girlfriends parents have been having problems with their 95 also, and now their mechanic says its the "spyder" under the plenum (the injectors/hoses and regulator.....) Could this be my fathers problem also? Thanks in advance, RS |

Re: Help With 95 Blazers.... ANYONE? PLEASE
Run the truck a few minites-remove the plastic cover from the middle of the intake-remove the valve under the cover {2 torx screws} use a flashlite and check for liquid fuel in the plenum. If you see puddles,it probably indicates a leaking pressure regulator or fuel line in the plenum. As far as I know these are dealer items-app. 600 bucks. They are fairly easy to replace.-Remember to change the engine oil-oil and filter are cheaper than bearings.Hope this helps.

What do you mean by oil and filter are cheaper than bearings? Fuel running by the rings?
We cant get my dads blazer to start anymore..... it wont hit...... turns no problem..... thanks -RS |

Yes,fuel past the rings. If you look at the Vortec set-up,you will see that all the fuel injection components are in the plenum. That engine uses 1 big injector feeding all 6 cyls. with tubes running to each cyl. this is were the term 'spider' comes from.Pull a couple plugs and see if their soaked with fuel-check the plenum like in my last messege-if everything is dry you have other problems. Anyway,I 've never seen an oil change hurt an engine,so for $15 why take a chance

One thing I noticed was your fuel pressure. In all the 4.3 W motors they require a fuel pressure of 55-61 psi. Try replacing your fuel pump. I seen many of these vehicles have hard staring, no start, and rough idleing. Listening for your fuel pump will not justify, since it is working (as per your current fuel pressure). Advance auto carries the pump for about $68.

If you see wetness you probably have a fuel leak in the plenum.

Comn guys.
He's cleaned EGR, only has 30-40 fuel psi and it's running like it's missing cylinders. This should be a no-brainer. Your CPI is toast. You can find then online for 200-300 bucks, don't go to the stealership to get this part! It's time you got your hands dirty and take off that upper intake. If the passanger side is washed, your CPI fuel reg is leaking. If your drivers side is washed, then your fuel lines that feed the CPI are bad. you can find those fuel lines for $40-$50 online.
