Well there hasn't been a new Supra in the US since 1998. I have yet to hear any solid evidence of any new Supra being made let alone coming to the US. There were rumors that they were gonna build the 4000GT supercar, but I read recently they scrapped the idea as it wouldn't be financially prudent right now. I don't see them bringing anything like the Supra back at least for a while until the SUV boom dies down some. Sports cars are not really popular enough to justify spending the money to produce them if they won't sell very well...especially with the outrageous prices the Supra would likely bring. Buyers in that segment of the market would likely just go for a Corvette which is notably cheaper, looks great, and performs just as good.

I heard in 2005 Mazda is bringing back its RX-7 to the american markets, and Toyota was working on bringing back its supra to keep up with its competition. I could be wrong, but If theyre gonna bring it back, my guess would be for 2005 or 2006

Re: Rumors
american sportscars are the best bang for your buck? good thing you're banned, otherwise i'd have to school you on how bad a Ford 4.6L V8 pushing 305 hp is too much displacement when Lexus' GS430 is a 4.3 pushing 300.
Or how Honda just created a 3.2L V6 pushing 300hp for the TL Concept Or how Mazda has 250hp Naturally Aspirated coming out of a 1.3L ROTARY engine Or how Nissan managed to make a 3.5L V6 putting out 287hp stock in the 350Z, and its barely making any power. Think of the most common GM has to offer: 3.8L V6 putting out 200hp, vs Toyota's 3.3L V6 putting out 225hp to 235hp depending on the vehicle. More bang for the buck is in the Japanese cars, not in Detroit's. |
