I have a 00 Tahoe that has started stalling. It doesn't do it every time I turn it on nor does it do it if I let warm up for ten minutes or so. It started doing this about a month or so ago. It has been really cold here (below freezing) and I am not sure if this has anything to do with it. When it stalls it does so after I drive a very short distance, less than a hundred yards. The engine just shuts down and will not start back up. I let it sit for thirty minutes or so and it will start back up and run like nothing ever happened. It has the 5.7L V8 engine. I have changed the fuel filter so far and it does not help. I can here the fuel pump working so I am assuming that is not the problem. I have looked in the throttle body and it does not appear to be excessivly dirty. The check engine light doesn't come on so i don't want to waste money having a diagnostic check done on it. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone ever seen a problem like this before? It has me baffled!!!

Howdy: Just because the "check engine" lite isn't coming on, does not mean that a "dtc" won't get locked into the control module. Take it to someone you trust for a diagnostic scan. What's $50 to try and solve your problem. Good Luck...........Steve
PS: "dtc"=diagnostic trouble code |
