84-90 C4 Corvette VS 01 Jetta 1.8 Turbo

It is nice and cold today (about 25) so I figured I would take advantage of it. My tiny stock intercooler is a big fan of cold weather and it really shows. I lined up next to a 84-90 Corvette (probably not an 84) with temp tags. I have run a stock 84 and know the outcome of that already. You should have seen the look on his face when I spooled up next to him so that he knew I wanted to race. It was a look of absolute disgust.

We had one race where he got a jump on me and beat me fairly bad. I didn’t know he was going to go and by the time I got on it the race was over.

The 2nd race we went on the 3rd honk from about 65 mph. He got about ½ a car on me right away. I guess it was due to his MaD TorQuE or he got a slight jump. At around 80 he was still less than a car length in front of me. My front bumper was by his rear tires. At 90 he was slowly walking me and had about 1 car length and at 100 I was back around 1.5 car lengths. At 110 I shut down about 1.5 car lengths or maybe slightly further back because he had a car in his lane and I don’t like pushing my luck. Well, that and the fact I would have ever caught up.

He pulled up next to me and I gave him the thumbs up and he returned the favor. I think was a bit shocked but in the end he still won. I should have given it another go seeing as how I started in the bottom of 3rd but I think he still would have won…. especially off the line.
