Belt Removal ?? Replacing Alternator
I need to remove the belt off the alternator pulley. I removed the four bolts on the pasenger side black plate ( by the shock tower). What do I do now to release the tension on the belt? There are three more bolts, but I don't know if I need to loosen or remove? Does the engine now tilt, or do I have to jack it up?
Thanks for any advice, |

hey there... you don't need to remove anything except the wind skirt on the passenger side. The clips can be removed easily with the nail puller end of a hammer. To remove the tension, you'll see a small square looking hole/slot on the top of the tensioner pulley. Your manual will have a diagram of the belt path and components. I used a 1/2" ratchet with an extension on it to put into this slot and take the tension out of the pulley. Then just sneak the belt between things and it's not too bad of a job.
