Re: Replacing/get to athe power window switch in a 1999 (4dr) Pontiac GTP
Hi. Before I go tearing my driver side door panel apart I need some help.. directions. My driver’s side power window switch stopped working. The others are fine. The switch control assembly is part of the complete side panel. I’ve located two capped trots (spelling?) screws … after removing them the panel still wouldn’t come off. I’ve pulled hard on one corner and it moved away from the door but, I’m afraid to go any farther because I might damage the panel completely. If I can get to the switch. I can replace it … I guess its just one switch for each window … or is it the whole assy with all four widows and the safety lock stuff too? Can you please give me an idea of what steps I need to take to replace/repair the switch. I guess I’ll have to see a GM dealer for the part. Any idea of cost? Thanks, George Foote |

The switch can be popped out of the door with a simple small screwdriver slid under the slot at the front of the switch area. You should see a small indentation that you can slide the screwdriver under and it will pop right up. Don't scratch the panel, maybe use a cloth over the screwdriver tip.
