Tires and Wheels?
I have a 2003 Silverado LS Ext and am interested in replacing some of that unused wheel well space with rubber.
Anyone know what the largest wheel/tire combo is without having to go to the low profile tires? I would like bigger but I don't want to lose the "Cadillac" ride. I know the SS has 20s but I have heard that the ride is much stiffer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Tires and Wheels?
chuck,
I have an '02 Silverado 2500HD. I went to larger tires and custom rims from the pizza cutters that come stock on it. I spoke to the dealer and was told I could go up to 285X75's without voiding the warrenty, and that they should fit with out any problems. Well, I installed BFG TKO 285X75XR16's on an 8-inch rim with zero offset and they rubbed very badly. So, I cranked up the torsion bar under the cab which helped a lot, but they still rubbed in turns and with extreme wheel travel. This drove me nuts, because I do a lot of offroad driving on the beaches and on dirt roads, so I went down to a 265 and these fit without even having to raise the torsion bar again. The Cooper 305X70's my buddy has are a bit smaller diameter than the 285X75's I had and would probably fit alright too. |
