need info about c230 kompressor old model

I have a 95 c220 right now, but i'm thinking of selling it because it's old enough and mann....the engine is just so noisy. my borfriend drove it from my apartment one time, and i could still hear the sound of the engine from my apartment.
i am thinking of changing to c230 kompressor but probably year 98.
is it a good car? is the engine still noisy?
how about the torque/acceleration ?
any suggestions will help...

i love the '98 c230. just my opinion though. no its not noisy...not nearly as much as your 220 sounds. the pickup is highly acceptable (compared it to the s-type and my suburban, the only other cars i drive regularly), handling is excellent.

heheh, funny thing...its actually my dad's car...completely stock, not even a cd player cuz he refuses to spend money. otherewise, no problems whatsoever. once the lights were left on for a few days and it still started. the stereo would definitely be the first thing to replace tho, i dont like the dash module at all, and the bass is nonexistant.

i have one

I have the c230 kompressor and it is a great car. But i have a 1999 one. My dad drives a c220 1995 and it is running great no noise or anything. just a lot of mile on it. My benz isnt stock well some is but i put a new sound system in it with a custom sub case. there isnt much to be done on it or much to do on it but it is a great car to drive.

The '99 or '00 C230 is a good choice. While not as quiet as a C280, the power and torque of the kompressor will make you forget about the two extra cylinders of the C280. Also, prices for a '99 C230 can be very attractive.

I am looking to buy a 2000 C230 Kompressor sedan. Is it a good buy for around $18K with leather seats and CD player? It looks roomier than the new ones.

Thumbs up C230 Kompressor

$18K sounds resonable for a low mileage '00 C230. You won't be disappointed.

Smile Re: C230 Kompressor

Thanks. For an MB, 40K miles is not too bad, me thinks. Its for a small town local kind of usage and show off at parties for wife, for a couple of years.

The problem? There is a idle arm used in the engine which is oil operated. The oil to operate this arm, which takes up the slack, is controlled through a small opening in a gas-kit. If the owner doesn't change the vehicle's oil enough, the oil get dirty, the hole gets clogged and the aim which takes up the slack fails to ride up against the chain The result is that the chain will slap up against the arm or pulley (for a lack of a better explanation), creating the noise. Your best answer is to have your mech who might explain it better to you.

Naturally this would apply if the answer is not something as simply as your lifters.
