Who wants a Powertrax No-Slip?
Heres the scoop: Powertrax is not going to be releasing the locker for the X/Frontier/Pathfinder until 2002 the reason being lack of interest. So....
We are seeking your support in an effort to have PowerTrax accelerate their efforts to introduce a No-Slip Locker application for the Xterra. For those not familiar with the details of the No-Slip, the below listed URLs are provided. Powertrax No-Slip web site http://www.powertrax.com/noslip.htm Review of No-Slip for the Isuzu Amigo http://www.outdoorwire.com/4x4/reviews/no-slip/ The two key elements of the No-Slip are price and ease of installation: most current applications can be acquired for between $400-$450 and can be installed by the owner using the existing differential carrier (with or without LSD). We plan to submit a petition to PowerTrax citing that at least fifty (50) Xterra/Frontier/Pathfinder owners are serious and committed to obtaining the type of performance enhancement that the No-Slip can provide their vehicles. We have a point-of-contact at PowerTrax who we will be submitting the petition to and ask that with your permission we add your name and email address to the list that will be forwarded. If you know of other Xterra/Frontier/Pathfinder owners who are interested in getting their names on this petition then please forward this information to them. Please respond to the e-mail address and include your name, year, model of truck and if you have the Nissan LSD. Thanks in advance and with luck we will have the No-Slip available shortly. Thanks, EOE [email protected] |

FSR,
I am interested in a PowerTrax for the front end only. My rear is already equipped with an ARB air locker. That is proof that I am serious. Although PowerTrax will be too late for my front end I am sure. I will be putting my front end together in fall. If it isn't released by then, I will again patronize their competition. I would much prefer to have the no slip in the front end, but just like everyone else out there, they are dragging their feet. You need to tell them the more they slough, the less they are going to sell. We need parts now, not two years from now. I would recommend using people like myself who are spending money on their trucks so they can see how much money they have missed. So far I have spent some $3,000 on my truck and won't be finished until I have spent some $3,000 more. They can either get a piece of it, or continue to dawdle and then wonder why no one wants their parts, or get their heads screwed on straight and realize that Nissan owners are not the jokes everyone seems to think they are. I actually have sent them a note to this effect with just a cursory response. Once they pass my deadline, I am no longer a buyer. The Warmonger |

I'm in for the petition...
You've probably already thought of this, but I suggest finding some Pathfinder offroad boards (*if* they exist) and posting this same message.
Off topic here: how does EOE sell products? I've been trying to buy the Rancho AAL for two days (I emailed you, FSR, and also called the EOE phone # & left a message) and no luck. |

I hear what your saying Warmonger, that's probably the main reason we started EOE...no support, no representation, no products... so we have the ball rolling on more than one front. When we send the petition in included will be our need and want to be locked front and rear. I will post this on every Nissan board I know of in the next few days and if anyone knows a board please forward the url to me at [email protected] , also any Nissan clubs e-mail addresses would be helpful to reach as many owners as we can.
Now as far as ordering products my partner or myself contacts back the person if we don't talk directly with you the first time and will take your order or answer your questions. I have add a leafs ready to go and will contact you guys tomorrow/Friday for your shipping/billing info...as well as everyone else who contacted us. Next week I will have another line you can reach me at day or night for orders. Thanks again, Todd AKA FSRBIKER |

BTRW, I'm much appreciative of this effort you're undertaking for Nissan aftermarket product development. I saw someone question the focus of the effort (they wanted another diff-maker pinged, I think) on the unofficial board but the way I see it beggars can't be choosers plus this product sounds dead-on for my price range. In addition, even *IF* this product were inferior to some other product, if it gets developed and sells the others will see it and get $$ signs in their eyeballs & get their own product out for Nissan; basically every journey begins w/a foot step or some sh!t like that. Okay, I'm done; time for 'nutha beer. |

Well, if the show put on in TN this weekend and Kentucky were any indication, they better start paying attention to us. I am not playing games and will patronize those who are serious players. I am not going to wait until 2002 to modify my truck for next winter's ski season. The way I see it, it is s@#$ or get off the pot. The release of the Xterra is forcing these people to get off their duffs after years of totally ignoring Nissans.
One rule of thumb I go by and that is little to no loyalty. If a company doesn't produce what I need, I will find one who does. There were some people who weren't pleased that I built my on-board air system from parts that were available elsewhere, but my response to that was; "You don't have what I need". You can tell PowerTrax I will be in the market to put something in my front end by Truxpo in October. If they fail to meet that deadline, they will lose the sale. Since I have invested WAY too much time and money in my X, I won't be getting rid of it anytime soon, so they shouldn't hold their breath for my return. I am interested in knowing how many others out there are tired of getting yanked by the likes of Rancho besides myself. Thank God for those such as EOE, SLR and AC for providing at least some of what we need. But I can say that even AC got hit by me when they had no steering stabilizer kit available when I needed one. I got POed and built one myself. I can tell you this FSR, you s@#$ me a rear bumper with a spare tire mount that will accept 32's, and you've got a ready buyer! :-) |

Todd -
Whats up with Powertrax? I want a locker, but can't afford an ARB.

Goliath,
Even more bad news for you. Even if they did release a PowerTrax, you would have to replace so many rear end parts, you might as well get an ARB. They are designed to bolt in open diff cases. LSD owners have to replace the carrier. That means it would have to be set up the same way as the ARB and you would be looking at around the $500 & up range to put it in. |

war, and other ARB locker owners....
how do you use your lockers? I mean, if you are getting stuck on a hill, how do you use it? Just wondering what your technique is. Matt

For me it is a judgement call. If it looks like I will need or at least have a good use for the locker, it gets engaged. That usually occurs on hills and wierd unnatural contortions. In most sand it isn't really necessary unless it gets real deep or I am pulling someone. In mud, I engage it and leave it that way (rear). Better to have three wheels pulling than two. |
