hello everyone. I enjoy building model car, and my buddy refer me about this forum.. I found a lot of great stuff here.
At any rate, I want to present to you guys with my past succesful project. A 1973 Datusn 240z. here is a write up i did on another forum about half a year ago. The entire project took me about 3 weeks to do it. Lately I have school, so I don't have anything new. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is my project 240z;. I bought this piece of shit kit from Walmart. Made by Revell. I should have bought the Japanese Fujimi brand. Anyway, I just want to share some of my procedures and progress of my Project Z. The stock form is really dumb, so I custom made a front air dam and fender flare for all corners, here we go guys. Initial putty adding(fender flare and air dam) ![]() I decided to use the stock block instead of all other swap ideas(was planned to put RB26DETT or Viper V10). I did a few modification. I get rid of the factory air cleaner box, replaced with 2 custom made velocity stack, bolt right on the carb. Removed mechanical fan, replaced with a NASCAR spec push type electric fan. I had some clearance issue with the velocity stack, so I "dent" the left inner fender and reduce the length of the brake master cylinder. ![]() Over all its pretty detail. I have remote oil filter and I even made a set of sparkplug wires to increase the level of detail. Here is the longblock picture. Here is the pictures of the engine installed~ *notice the spark plug wires* And this is a test fit for my set of doridori mesh.. in full blown scale, they should be 14x8; 14x10. I have some offset issue, I might have to increase some offset to prevent sticking out of my custom flare. Well, its here. I finally finished this project. Everything went smooth except the interior. Overall I am really satisfied. Enough said, here is a quick spec of my 240z. 1973 Datsun 240z. Engine: Inline 6, 2.4L. Induction: twin carb. with custom velocity stack. Exhaust: Full length header. Lubrication: remote oil filter with -AN fitting and stainless line. Cooling: push type electric fan. Interior: stock Z-seat with Nardi steering wheel Exterior: custom made fender flare. Wheels: Hosuino Impul Pro-Mesh wheel Tires: ADVAN 195/50HR14 , 225/50HR14. ---------------------------------------------------------- This kit is by Revell(I really don't like it). The stock piece looks really dumb, and I can't stand it, so I decide to make it look like a true togue car. And here are the pictures. ![]() Test fit Interior(I shouldn't use gloss back in interior, made a mistake here) This is how the stock unit looks like, I should have bought the Fujimi unit My proud finished product Front *notice the extra flare* Side Rear Engine bay

thanks guys, and sorry I posted in a wrong section. :P
about the grill I think it is stock piece, and the air dam is made out of model putty. |

Looks good. Nice work.
Just a one thing, you shouldn't use gloss to paint the interior. Use a flat color next time.

Re: Hi guys I am new, and here is my project Z
Awesome work. Those wide arches make it look so aggresive, and that engine detail is way cool.
Keep up the good work |

Great work man, Black suites this car verrry nicely, and the rims and the new front airdam jobby all flow perfectly together, o and it looks 10 times better with the bigger arches

Speaking as someone who's built both kits, I can readily say that the Revell kit is the SUPERIOR of the Revell/Fujimi match-up.
For starters, the Fujimi kit's driveshaft and rear differential are molded onto the chassis. The rear suspension's lower control arms are molded as one pversized piece, and the strut/brake disc pieces fit very sloppily in their mounts. Things aren't much better up front, either, since the front suspension doesn't include the sway bar or the trailing arms. Instead, you get one piece for the lower control arms and two strut/brake disc pieces. Plus a totally inaccurate tie rod. The hood is molded in place, making for a real pain trying to cut it open to see the engine and radiator. Oh, that's it for the engine bay. An out of scale radiator and the engine. No brake booster, inner fender walls, or battery, all of which is found in the Revell kit. Bodywise, both are fairly accurate, though I admit the nearly 30 year old Revell kit has some pretty horrible fit and mold lines that have built up over the years. The problem is that the Fujimi kit represents either Z432R bodywork or 240ZG bodywork, neither of which is accurate for a statesbound Z. And while I haven't built the Z432R kit, I have built the Wangan Midnight kit which is supposedly a Z432R Fairlady Z. Guess what, no S20 engine and certainly not the twin turbo engine in the manga, just a stock dual SU carb L24. So, your complaints about the Revell kit are unjustified.
